Generating UUIDs in a CICS regions
Is it possible to generate UUIDs Universal Unique Identifiers from an application program running in a CICS region? CICS is TS 1.3 in this case but we are migrating our environment to TS 2.2.

Probably not. As I understand it, UUIDs are based on the MAC address of a Network card so that's a bit difficult. If you can find a chunk of pure Java that generates these things by some other algorithm (i.e., not using a native loadlib/DLL and presumably date/time based) then this should quite happily run in the JVM environment for CTS 2.2 (and also CTS 2.3!).
