In IT hardware selection, the first choice is one vendor or many

Sponsored by

From a data center perspective, choosing hardware from multiple vendors remains a sticking point. This guide looks at the ongoing debate about using a single vendor versus multiple vendors in IT hardware selection. Working with a single vendor may result in better support. And that one vendor could cut data center operating costs and eliminate some of the management complications that result from choosing hardware from multiple vendors. Selecting technologies in an a la carte fashion, however, gives data center managers greater flexibility to build an infrastructure better matched to their particular needs. In some situations, buyers may see value in choosing a converged infrastructure, or CI, product. The advantages to converged infrastructure include the ability to roll out pre-packaged technologies with limited integration requirements. The CI route, though, requires a hefty up-front investment.
