Open Vault
Open Vault is an open-source storage specification that has a modular I/O topology. Open Vault is designed to work with Open Rack, a server rack standard for hyperscale data centers.
OpenCompute.org describes the Open Vault storage hardware as a 2U enclosure with 1U hard disk drive (HDD) trays. Open Vault specifications follow the Open Compute Project's recommendations for simple design and ease of installation. Each tray holds 30 3.5-inch HDDs, two serial-attached SCSI (SAS) expander boards and a fan control board. The enclosure contains six fans; each individual tray can be pulled out for maintenance.
