Standalone utilities to convert a COBOL flat file into XML format

I have converted a COBOL flat file into XML format. Do you know any standalone utility that can cross check this data file again a supplied schema? Please note that we do have some privacy concerns. Thank you for the help.

I assume this means you wouldn't be willing to use the W3C's own free Web-based Schema Checking service or other similar offerings such as the XSD Schema Validator at gotdotnet. That means you probably want to acquire (and perhaps even purchase) a tool that validates instance documents against the governing schema. For that purpose, you can use tools like Altova's excellent XMLSpy or the Sun Multi-Schema XML Validator, which is apparently an open source offering available in binary and source code formats.

My advice is to visit your favorite search engine and look for "XML schema validator" and start fooling around with the many items you'll find that pop up under this moniker that aren't simply Web-based submission forms services.

HTH, and thanks for posting.
