Running IE under WINE

An expert recommends running WINE if you really need an IE emulator.

Does Firefox offer an IE emulator with Linux or BSD?

The closet you can get to running IE on a Linux or BSD system is to actually run it under WINE.

What people think of as the "IE Emulator" for Firefox on Windows is actually a Firefox tab in which IE is embedded, so that it is running- on Windows, naturally. Firefox also offers an extension called User-Agent Switcher. It makes a website believe that you are running not Firefox, but IE.
