Getting a DSL modem to work on a Windows laptop and a Linux desktop

I just got a DSL modem (GT 701) from Qwest for my laptop -- OS windows XP. Qwest informs me that this DSL modem can also be used for my desktop computer -- OS Linux. The browser in my desktop Linux system is Netscape communicator 4.77.

I need advice how to connect this DSL modem to my desktop for Internet.

In order to use any modem Linux-support is needed. Since I don't know what distribution you use it is hard to determine if support is there. But assuming it is supported (which should normally be the case) the procedure shouldn't be too complex. For any Unix/Linux installation you have to realize that Qwest doesn't deliver any support to your setup.
