DEFINITION -

The Uptime Institute, Inc. is a consortium of companies devoted to maximizing efficiency and uptime in data centers and IT (information technology) organizations. Member companies learn from each other through sponsored meetings, tours, networks and benchmarks.

The Uptime Institute offers various services to its members, including advance information about products and services affecting availability, efficiency and reliability, uptime trends and industry benchmarks. Performance standards developed by the Institute are based solely on the needs and preferences of users. The organization offers public and private seminars, provides training sessions and conducts sponsored research. Since 1993, the Institute has maintained a member network that addresses and seeks solutions for issues relevant to data center cooling and electrical systems.
