Aimed primarily at data centers concerned with business continuity and IT consolidation, Scalent Systems Inc.'s Scalent Virtual Operating Environment (V/OE) 2.5 software is not a CMDB in the traditional sense, yet judges cited it as bronze-worthy for CMDB products.
The Scalent V/OE software is designed to enable data centers to efficiently handle a multitude of change management-related issues including changing which servers to run, what software is running on those servers, and how those servers are connected to the network and storage devices. In the process of facilitating such changes to servers, Scalent's product automatically maintains existing configuration and software deployments in the data center, simplifying both change management and ongoing administration efforts.
