Continue your green data center project with these resources and tools
Hello!
It was great to see you at CRG West's Speaker Series, "Does it pay to go green?" earlier this month in Somerville and discuss the energy crisis and some of the other issues facing data centers today. As space and energy resources continue to decline and our demand and output in data centers continue to rise it is important to continuously evaluate and identify areas of improvements in the data center or create plans for constructing successful new "greener" data centers for the future. I hope you enjoyed the event as much as I enjoyed presenting and having a chance to converse with a few of you.
As you may remember from the event, when I'm not out campaigning for greater efficiency in the data center I am working as Senior Site Editor for SearchDataCenter.com - an independent Web site dedicated to providing data center decision makers the latest news, tips and advice on data center strategies for today and tomorrow. Based on our discussion at the seminar I have included some popular site content from SearchDataCenter.com that I thought you may find interesting and helpful as you continue to pursue greater energy efficiency and cost effectiveness in your data center:
Green Data Center 2.0: Beyond best practices
Data Center Construction Runbook
Green Data Center E-Book: Energy-efficient computing in the 21st century
(Access the online version of the E-Book we handed out the day of the event)
Also, while I know most of you are located in greater Boston or New England area, I wanted to extend special invitation to our Data Center Decisions Conference coming to Chicago in October 2008. Although Chicago might be a hike for most of you, the event is free so you would only have to worry about travel and hotel expenses (the hotel is offering a discount for event attendees), and with the return you would see from your data center improvements after attending the conference, I would say that the flight and hotel expense would be well worth it. Check out our conference Web site for more event details, session abstracts, speaker bios and registration information
I hope you find these resources useful and continue to see greater efficiency and cost reductions in your data center.
Best,
Matt Stansberry
Senior Site Editor
