Future Facilities Ltd.'s 6SigmaDC takes this year's silver. It is a suite of software modules used in the creation of full 3D representations of the physical data center using computational fluid dynamics (CFD).
CFD can smoke out your hotspots so you know exactly where the hot and cold air is blowing in your data center, takes silver this year. The software can be configured to take an inventory of characteristics like airflow and heat transfer for individual pieces of IT equipment, and can give users snapshots of the data center over time.
