SILVER AWARD: BladeSystem c-Class (previously BladeSystem p-Class) by Hewlett-Packard
The next-generation HP BladeSystem c-Class is essentially an IT infrastructure in a 17" box that consolidates the elements of the modern datacenter – compute, storage, power/cooling, connectivity, security – into a modular design with integrated management. By consolidating the BladeSystem c-Class reduces the initial purchase costs of servers, Ethernet & FC network switches, and storage by up to 42%, when comparing to traditional rack mounted components.
The portfolio of server blades are unique in that it matches the features of a standard 1U & 2U rack server in less than half the size. The functionality of these blades can handle any application that comparable 1, 2 & 4 processor ProLiant and Integrity rack servers run, such as databases, application and web servers, mail & messaging servers, HPC, and other industry-specific applications.
Base configuration: $7627 (1 enclosure + 1 blade + 1 pass thru)
"Hewlett-Packard, HP BladeSystem c-Class. HP's c-Class blades are a substantial upgrade from the predecessor p-Class. And it shows in HP's rising market share that now essentially ties it with IBM."-Judge.
