The Sun Fire T2000 server offers users massive throughput using less power and cooling resources. The key to this server is its breakthrough Coolthreads technology, which delivers 32 simultaneous processing threads on a simple, eight-core processor. It is scalable and offers high levels of system uptime through the extensive processor and memory RAS, coupled with redundancy of systems components, support for HW RAID (0+1) and the predictive self healing features of the Solaris 10 OS.
In addition to Solaris 10 OS, the T2000 offers binary compatibility with a range of Linux distributions. For users looking to migrate and tune performance, Sun offers Cool Tools, which is software that helps users optimize web tier environment.
Other features include Sun Advanced Lights Out Manager (ALOM), the standard System Controller (SC) for remote out-of-band management for many current and future Sun servers. ALOM functions enable monitoring, logging, alerting and basic system controls; and it is particularly useful for remotely managing a server in a typical "lights out" environment. It is the next generation strategic solution, replacing the functionality of Remote System Control (RSC) used on VSP servers.
