In 2007, data center managers largely focused on energy efficiency and how it relates to their companies' ROI. This shift in
priority prompted data center software and hardware vendors to tout their wares as the leanest and greenest. But building a
world class data center takes more than just buying and installing more efficient hardware and trimmed-down software; it takes
performance, durability and innovation, for starters
Data center vendors rose to this challenge with varying degrees of success, making 2007's crop of products difficult to judge
for SearchDataCenter.com's editors and judges. We requested submissions from vendors and users and came up with eight categories
- Data center backup power
- Data center cooling
- capacity and power management tools
- Data center automation tools
- Small servers (four processors and under)
- Large servers (multi-processor systems)
- CMDB and provisioning
- Performance management toos
The winning products come from all corners of the data center industry; from well-established companies to companies you may
have never heard of.
For the record, our awards are based on the following criteria:
- Innovation
- Performance
- Ease of integration into environment
- Ease of use and manageability
- Functionality
- Value
Decisions were made based on information provided by those nominating respective products and on the judges' independent
research.
Congratulations to all the winners.
