Solid-state startup joins forces with HP
Solid-state storage and I/O startup provider Fusion-io scored an OEM deal with Hewlett-Packard to use its memory technology in HP StorageWorks IO Accelerator for BladeSystem servers.

The HP StorageWorks IO Accelerator is a NAND flash-based storage adapter based on Fusion's io Memory technology. The technology can achieve more than 100,000 IOPS and 800 MBps read- and 600 MBps write-throughput, with access latencies of less than 50 miroseconds while requiring as few as 6 W, Fusion-io said.

Having this technology in HP c-class BladeSystem servers enables end users to enhance performance by eliminating latency and bottlenecks at the application level, according to Salt Lake City-based Fusion-io. It also consumes far less power than similar offerings, the company added.

BladeSystem c-Class x86 blade servers can accommodate two or three IO Accelerator mezzanine cards. The cards are available in three versions on HP's website: 80 GBps ($4,400), 160 GBps ($7,700) and 320 GBps of storage ($13,200), and they are also available through resellers.
