Schneider Electric marries DCIM, DCFM
Schneider Electric collapsed several of its infrastructure and facilities management tools
under a single product umbrella, called StruxureWare for Data Centers. By combining data center
infrastructure management (DCIM) and data center facility management (DCFM), administrators can
manage power, cooling, physcical security and remote access from a single tool, the company said.
The suite consists of StuxureWare Central, formerly Infrastruxure Central, for monitoring;
StruxureWare Power and StuxureWare Cooling, formerly ION Enterprise and Continuum, respectively;
and StruxureWare Operations, the DCIM component. The first element that is available is
StruxureWare Central v6.3, including a mobile component for iPhone and Blackberry smartphones.
Other components of the StruxureWare for Data Centers software suite will be announced later this
year.
Drill down into your data center
FieldView Solutions’ new FieldView 4.0 DCIM tool adds new drill-down and reporting capabilities
to help data center managers control energy usage across distributed facilities. Among the new
features are the Site Metrics Ribbon, which allows users to drill down by country, state, and
location and view information such as server heat maps, power loads and diesel fuel generator fuel
levels. A critical polling agent allows administrators to select high-priority devices for
high-frequency updates, which can now be queried
