Ascent builds customizable data center hosting facility
Ascent Corp. is developing its second Chicago-area data center, CH2, featuring a new delivery model called Dynamic Data Center Suites, the company reported on Monday.

Customers can either colocate their data centers at the new facility or use the Dynamic Data Center Suite model, which offers customizable units that can maintain separate shipping and receiving docks, entrance doors, branded lobbies and personnel. Customers can also choose their own space size, infrastructure and operational options, like raised floors, chilled water or air-side cooling, container-based compute or racks, and the level of power density and energy efficiency they want.

The 250,000 square foot data center, located near the Northlake Data Center housing Microsoft, should be completed at the end of 2009.
