Complete desktop packages

Open source apps and software consultant Bernard Golden recommends Linspire/Freespire as having a complete desktop package.

I am a UNIX/Oracle/Progress technical consultant. I know my way around the system prompt. But what really bugs me is installing software that is not part of the distribution. Dependancies, prerequisites, kernelsources, etc, it's all to much for me and sometimes leaves me in despair. Is there a package that incorporates all of these things? I don't want to have to keep piecing my desktop together.

I feel your pain. It is a nightmare installing one package and getting the ever-recursive "missing XYZ package."...

You might check out Linspire/Freespire. I saw a demo of their product at LinuxWorld and their statement was that they deal with the dependency nightmare through their CNR capability.
